A sequel to the 2017 reboot Saban’s Power Rangers is reportedly in the early stages of development with Hasbro looking to take the popular franchise to newer heights similar to both the Transformers and My Little Pony franchises.
According to Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner, the aim for Power Rangers being part of the Hasbro umbrella is to further push its prominence, which includes a future on the cinematic landscape.
You can read this excerpt from Goldner’s official statement in regards to the future of Power Rangers, courtesy of licensing.org:
“Power Rangers’ will generate an operating profit similar to Hasbro’s other franchise brands and has a ‘significant opportunity for growth given where the brand had been most recently,’ Goldner said. Hasbro will work with a film studio to develop a new Power Rangers movie as a follow-up to the 2017 release.”
This new deal signifies that Paramount Pictures will likely take over the distribution rights to upcoming Power Rangers films from Lionsgate.
